Cal Sailing Club - Learning to Windsurf 5
Cal Sailing Club - Learning to Windsurf
Step 5 - Docking
The goal of this session is to cover the last step required for the Junior rating.
The proper way to dock a windsurfer at the CSC dock is to
- Sail to about 6 feet away from the dock on the leeward side.
- Release the sail with your aft (sheet) hand.
- Drop the sail into the water.
- Paddle the board to the dock. You can paddle on the board or jump off
the board and pull it as you swim to the dock.
- Climb onto the board and from the board onto the dock.
The board can be sailed to the dock, but with the crowd of sailboats and other windsurfers
this can be difficult, and a lot of damage has been done to rigs and boards by trying this.
- Once you're comfortable with these maneuvers, do your 2 hours of extra work and
take your Junior windsurfing test.
Good luck
